Why Quantum Lumenis IPL

There are many different brands of Intense Pulsed Light machines and they are NOT all created equal. There is a huge variation in the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of various machines. It is a case of "caveat emptor" or let the "buyer beware".

Before making a decision to proceed with IPL treatments many crucial factors need to be considered. To assist you with this we outline what we are able to offer, what to look for and what questions to ask.

We did extensive research ourselves before purchasing Lumenis Quantum and after seeing the results we are convinced that we made the correct decision.

Some History of Skindeep Medi-Spas IPL..

Skindeep Medi-Spas purchased our first Quantum IPL in August 2003. All our IPL Therapists are International Accredited Paramedical Therapists who have attended Full Laser/ IPL Training Courses and then have had months of one on one training with another experienced IPL Technician before treating clients independentley.

Reputation & Quality

Lumenis, the manufacturer of our Quantum machine, invented and trade marked the IPL technology and have been treating clients around the world since 1994. They received American FDA approval for IPL in February 2000 and are recognised as the international gold standard leaders in IPL technology. Numerous independent case studies have been undertaken that support the findings of the FDA and reinforce the safety and effectiveness of the technology.

American FDA & Australian TGA Approval

Lumenis Quantum Intense Pulsed Light technology was approved by the American FDA in February 2000. Australian TGA also. It was cleared for both Permanent Hair Reduction, based on 76% reduction @ 12 months and 84% reduction @ 24 months after multiple treatments were completed, and for All Skin Types. (Limited to skin types I to V.) (Other machines do not necessarily have FDA& TGA approval and often quote hair reduction percentages from six weeks to six months after the completion of treatments. This time period is much to short to give any confidence of permanence.) 

Clinical Studies

We are able to show numerous independent clinical case studies that confirm permanence of both hair removal and photorejuvenation and also confirming efficiency, effectiveness and safety of our Quantum machine. (Other operators are often unable to show independent studies so you are reliant on their own in house information and marketing material that has limited credibility without independent validation)

Powerful, Effective and Safe

Quantum is a medical grade machine that has the power, 45 Joules per square centimetre, and variability of wavelength, colour spectrum, and pulse type to treat different skin conditions and skin types so that it does the job it is designed for quickly and efficiently without the risk of damaging surrounding tissue.

(Some competitor machines have a maximum capacity as low as 11 Joules per square centimetre. It is very likely that a low energy machine will not destroy the hair follicle but will simply stun hairs into the "Telogen" or dormant phase of the hair growth cycle. After a period of time, probably four to six months, the hairs will return to "Anagen" or growth phase and will of course grow back)

(Ironically a low energy machine is likely to present a greater risk if, to make up for the low energy, the light pulse is lengthened in an attempt to achieve permanence as this will also increase the risk of damaging surrounding tissue) (Most other IPL systems have only one treatment head to cover various treatment options and don't have the ability to make adjustments to the wavelength or pulse type therefore compromising on the effectiveness and safety of the treatment)

Predictably Consistent Treatments

The Quantum treatment head, that delivers the light pulse, has computerised recalibration capability so that the fluence, (Joules per square centimetre) is consistent and at full power throughout the life of the treatment head. (Without recalibration the age of the treatment head could be a factor in the effectiveness of the treatment. Like a sun bed tube, the older the tube the weaker the treatment.)

Built in Cooling

The Quantum machine has built in cooling for client safety and comfort. (Some competitor machines do not have built in cooling so the treatment is not as pain free as it should be and the risk of burning, blistering, scarring and bruising is greatly increased.)

Treatment Price

The Lumenis technology is very expensive and accordingly this is reflected in the treatment price but importantly you will receive excellent results and value for money. We offer payment options and course discounts to help in this regard. (Be prepared for price variations if comparing prices with different treatment providers. From our own research of competitors it is clear that a cheaper price is usually a reflection of machine quality and effectiveness. Unfortunately some providers are charging high prices for inferior machines so again it is important to do your homework before booking in for your IPL treatments.)

Larger areas reqiure consultations where quotes are given, as cost is dependant upon the size of the area and the number of shots required to fully cover the area.
