Fillers

Injectable dermal fillers

Injectable dermal fillers are used to treat static wrinkles. Injectable dermal fillers are placed beneath the wrinkle and/or fold to ‘fill in' or ‘plump up' the depression. The areas most commonly treated with dermal fillers include Nasolabial Folds, Marionette Lines and Vertical Lip Lines. In addition to the treatment of wrinkles injectable dermal fillers can also be used to create volume and definition of the lips. Dermal fillers are administered through a few injections by a trained medical professional. Our Cosmetic Physcians  may decide to administer a topical (cream) or local anaesthetic to help numb the area being treated. Treatments usually last for at least 6 months and normal activities can generally be resumed immediately following facial injections.

Usually the side effects of these wrinkle treatments are temporary and localised to the area of injection. The different types of cosmetic injection have different side effects, however in general possible side effects include swelling, pain, burning, bruising or redness at the injection site.

Both types of cosmetic injections should only be administered by a experienced qualified Cosmetic Physican.  Our Cosmetic Physicians will help you to make decisions based on your age, skin condition, expectation and overall health.

Lip Rejuvenation

Our Lips as they age..

Natural substances such as collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid that provide the skin with structure and volume decrease with age. The lips in particular have an extremely thin outer skin layer which becomes progressively thinner with age. This, together with environmental factors such as exposure to sunlight, smoking and stress, all contribute to how our lips age and the formation of lip wrinkles.

Full lips lose their volume and lip wrinkles form over the years due to the effects of....

  • Gravity Muscle action (creates dynamic wrinkles)

  • Volume loss Environmental damage e.g. Smoking Sun exposure Decreased levels of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid Muscle

How do the lips show their age?

Over time the corners of the mouth can begin to droop (mouth frown), the shaped area of the upper lip known as the Cupid's Bow begins to flatten out and we start to lose the appearance of full lips and volume. Lip lines and lip wrinkles can also begin to appear due to lip muscle movement and cause lipstick to bleed.

Treatment for lip ageing and lip wrinkles

Injectable dermal fillers can be used to treat the border of the upper and/or lower lip to enhance lip contour and definition. Dermal fillers can effectively treat lip lines and lip wrinkles that come with lip ageing. Lip volume can also be improved with treatment in the lip body to create more full lips.
